This board has evolved from a mixture of Project Black models James Cheal has made over the years for team rider Kobi Clements. Kobi has progressed onto high performance models but the DNA in this board is fast, forgiving and reliable for any grom from the intermediate to advanced level. James has basically squashed the nose and tail slightly together, widened the outline that brings us a board allowing you to ride 1-3 inches smaller then a regular shortboard. Having width under the front foot with a pulled in squash tail allows for a quick acceleration surfboard but with enough foam to get through those dead sections. Having a more rounded outline (which is the main difference from Chilli's previous Grom model) means turning is a lot easier and can take your shredding to the next level also don't be fooled it's very user friendly for all ages and levels of surfing. TWIN TECH - Twin Tech offers a performance orientated flex pattern that's designed to simulate a traditional stringer surfboard but with an Epoxy/EPS 'new board feeling' every surf. Most of the strength comes from the Twin Carbon strategically running up the centre of the deck and bottom. This creates a strong flex pattern that accentuates speed and produces that 'pop and liveliness' but with an underlying feeling of predictability. Tried and tested with Chilli's team of all ages and sizes, this construction feels lightweight, balanced and perfect to ride. Twin Tech consists of a stringerless EPS blank and Chilli's own designed Twin Carbon fibre tape. Bottom: Single layer of 4oz fibreglass (featuring Chilli's signature line by Colan Australia), Twin Carbon tape plus individual fin plug patches.
